Oral tablets
Not everyone wants a weekly injection, and not everyone can store one reliably. A daily semaglutide tablet exists, and for the right person it is a better fit, provided the timing rules are genuinely followed.
The rules
Absorption is the whole problem. The tablet has to be taken on an empty stomach, first thing, with no more than a small amount of plain water, and then nothing else for a set interval afterwards.
Break that and absorption drops, which means the dose you took is not the dose you received. People who find the tablet ineffective have very often been taking it with coffee or breakfast.
For someone with a settled morning routine this is trivial. For shift workers or frequent travellers it is often the reason the injectable is the better choice. More on that in Injections vs tablets, Semaglutide and Nutrition on a GLP-1.
Taking it
First thing, before anything else. Consistency matters more here than with a weekly injection because a missed window is a missed dose.
A small amount, nothing else. Coffee, juice and food all interfere with how much of the dose is actually absorbed.
A set interval before eating, drinking anything else, or taking other medication. Your clinician will give you the exact figure.
Doses step up on a schedule the same way as the injectable, conditional on tolerance.
Tablet or injection
Needle aversion is the obvious one and it is a real clinical consideration rather than squeamishness. A treatment you avoid taking does not work.
Against that, the weekly injection is a single event you can plan around, while the tablet is a daily constraint on your mornings. Travel across time zones, shift patterns and irregular schedules usually favour the injection. Injections vs tablets, Wegovy and Personalized plan go further into it.

Common questions
Timing, effectiveness, and how it compares with the injection.
I would not have started at all if injecting was the only route. The tablet made it possible and the rules became routine within a fortnight.
The wait before coffee was the hardest part. Once I moved it to the moment I woke up it stopped being an issue.
Started on tablets, moved to weekly after a job with early starts. Switching was straightforward and suggested by them.
Nobody had told me why the timing mattered. Once I understood it was about absorption I actually followed it properly.

The choice between a daily tablet and a weekly injection is mostly about your mornings and your schedule. Both are discussed at the consultation.
